2004 LADY DEVILS LOOKING FOR A RETURN TO THE NWAACC'S
The 2004 Lower Columbia College volleyball team consists of 10 great athletes from eight different schools. Although not blessed with heighth this season, the Lady Devils do have plenty of heart and desire. With passion, dedication and desire to compete, this team will be fun to watch. They play fantastic defense and the offense is coming along. As they prepare to start league play, the Devils will have played some tough competition as well as some very competitive squads at the Valley of the Sun Tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Devils return four players from last season. Heidi Adams will specialize as the Libero this year. Defensive specialist Alicia Haseman and outside hitter Brenda Riggs are back and are better with a year's experience. Kassondra Farrar rounds out the returners as a middle blocker. She is playing a new position and is up to the challenge.
Newcomers this season include exciting setter Kayli Anderson of R.A. Long and her high school teammate outside hitter Whitney Luchau. Both are big time players. Toledo product Mandy Wallace is also here to provide talent at outside hitter. Although the Lady Devils as a team are small, freshman middle blocker Ashley Willman of Winnemucca Nevada doesn't have that problem. She is 6-5 and is getting better by the match. Right side players Jade Mountain of the The Dalles and Sara Pederson of St. Helens are also excellent prospects who will contribute right away.
It looks to be an exciting season. The chemistry of the team is strong and they're looking for great things to come as the season progresses. With the goal of returning to the NWAACC Tournament, the Lady Devils are striving to improve every piece of their game and be a team to contend with.
