Two is a streak. Four is an era. Six is a dynasty!
The Lower Columbia College softball team captured its sixth consecutive NWAACC softball championship with a hard fought 8-7 victory over Clackamas. With the victory, LCC ties Clackamas for the most softball championships in NWAACC history with seven. Seven will be the key number next season when the Lady Devils reload to try and keep this amazing streak going.
Janessa Roening was named the tourney MVP yesterday, the second year in a row she has taken that honor. She will take her great skills to the University of Missouri next season. Joining Roening on the all-tournament team was Jennifer Pass, her sister Christin Pass, Misty Britt and Melissa Norton. Sarah Withers also closed out her great LCC career with a big win in the semi-final over Mount Hood. It was a great team effort for all involved. And what can you say about head coach Tim Mackin and assistants Scot O'Neil and Ken Vodrup. Mackin is now at the top as the all-time leader in wins and championships.
Thanks to all the great LCC fans who made the trip to Portland to cheer on the Lady Devils. The fan support made the championship even more special to the Lady Devils!
