LOWER COLUMBIA COLLEGE

MEN'S BASEBALL

SEASON OUTLOOK

2004 RED DEVIL'S FALL SHORT AGAIN IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!

The Lower Columbia College Red Devil baseball team continue to prove they are the most consistent winning program in the Northwest. But the sting of yet another championship game loss is being felt. For the fifth time in six seasons, the Devils were turned away in the NWAACC championship game, losing the 2004 final 3-2 to the Lane Titans at the Tri-Cities Stadium in Pasco Monday May 31st.

After dropping the tourney opener to Mount Hood, LCC roared back with four straight victories including ousting tourney host Columbia Basin for the second straight year, and eliminating the two-time defending champion Edmonds team. On championship Monday, Lower Columbia forced a second championship game when Will Brindza hit a game winning double in the bottom of the 9th inning for a 2-1 win over Lane. But in the final game, the Titans held off the Devils to take the 3-2 victory. There were plenty of gutty performances by the Red Devils including all-NWAACC tourney selections Jesse Spellmeyer and Ivan Munoz.

With a banner list of recruits coming to LCC in 2005, the Devils will be back again, hopefully to take the crown. No NWAACC team has more championship tourney appearances (34). The Devils are one behind Yakima Valley for titles (8). The Devils have been runner-up 10 times. LCC has the most championship game appearances (18). The Devils lok forward to defending thier Western Division crown and hosting the 2005 NWAACC Championships at Story Field.
